Jr Cougars Update 8-23-22

Hello all,

Another great weekend of football and cheerleading. This Sunday, August 28th, we are home against the Western Wayne Wildcats. Both C teams are 2-0 and should be a great matchup to watch. Our A team will be playing the West Scranton Jr Invaders. Normal Sunday start times.

Picture day for football is Sunday. On this page above, you will find the flyer with the times and instructions on how to order. There will be a makeup date for pictures. We have not determined the date or time yet.

For our home games, we kindly ask that you sit in the bleachers while watching the game or watching the cheerleaders. Standing in the front by the handicapped seating is not allowed and blocks parents from watching their cheerleaders cheer. That area is specifically for the handicapped. Security will ask you to move. We appreciate your cooperation. Game programs will be available and you can grab one when giving a donation at the front entrance.

A lot of people do not know the cost for hosting a home game. We pay the PIAA Officials a total of $730 for the day. $175 for the use of the stadium and $50 to the band front for use of the concession stand. The band does fill and order the drinks for us. We also pay $300 for security for the day. None of these costs are negotiable and all services are required. We manage these costs very well. We do profit very little at the concession stand seeing we start $1255 in the hole. When we have good weather and play a team with a lot of kids we do pull a profit. With bad weather and smaller teams, we actually can lose money. So please stop by and purchase something from our stand. We will also have the ice cream truck there for our games. Sales of ice cream do benefit our organization. We have a lot of kids in the organization (250 +) so we welcome donated items for the stand. If you want to donate or bake some items, we would greatly appreciate it. We have had some donations of bake items and they always do good. Ziti, cabbage and noodles, chili, anything. We used to get a ton of parents cooking for baking items, but that has fallen off the past few years.

Cheerleading Competition is quickly approaching. Practice is extremely important. The cheer comp is a big event and a big deal for the girls. Spotlight will be on them as they will perform their routine in front of a packed crowd. Coaches are making arrangements for indoor practices in the event of inclement weather. You coaches/advisors will keep you in the loop.

Purse/Prize Bingo fundraiser is being planned for the Jr Cougars. This fundraiser will be a great time. We are looking at getting warm up suits for cheerleading and practice jerseys for football for 2022. This bingo is not specifically for designers purses. Many other prizes will be available for men and women. A separate email will be sent outlining the details.
